ARCHIVAL RESEARCH

BOVET, A DEEP DIVE INTO CHRONOGRAPHE HERITAGE

For Bovet, we led an extensive archival research project to map the brand’s longstanding relationship with chronographs and reposition these rare vintage pieces within the broader context of their era. Through a structured analysis of the competitive landscape, design trends, technical developments and market positioning, we rebuilt a coherent narrative around Bovet chronographs, supported by original period advertisements and editorials to nourish the brand’s storytelling with authentic visual assets. Delivered as an oral and written presentation, our conclusion highlighted Bovet’s major influence in the first half of the 20th century and its role in shaping the chronograph as a benchmark complication. Across roughly two decades of production, Bovet explored an unusually wide spectrum of chronograph ideas, from boundary-pushing technical executions such as four-time chronographs and mono-rattrapante concepts to more accessible models, always retaining a distinct signature in design and finishing. The research ultimately framed Bovet as a quiet but decisive contributor to chronograph history, and a rich source of inspiration for future collections and new, more “quirky” storytelling angles.
